Difference b/w guided and unguided media
Difference between guadid and unguided media?
Introduction:
The computer and other communicating gadgets represent data in the form of signals. The signals transmit between communicating gadgets as electromagnetic energy, and thus the signals are called electromagnetic Signals
Electromagnetic signals are the combination of magnetic fields that vibrate according to one another. The electromagnetic signs can go through different transmission media. The transmission media is comprehensively grouped into two classifications that are Guided and Unguided Media
FUNDAMENTAL OF GUDID AND UNGUIDED MEDIA
The fundamental contrast between guided and unguided media is that in the guided media, the signals travel through a physical medium though, in unguided media, the signals travel through the air. There are some more contrasts between guided and unguided media which we have discussed with the assistance of a comparison chart shown below.
BASIS FOR COMPARISON
Basic
GUIDED MEDIA
The signal requires a physical path for transmission.
UNGUIDED MEDIA
The signal is broadcasted through air or sometimes water.
Alternative name
GUIDED MEDIA
It is called wired communication or bounded transmission media.
UNGUIDED MEDIA
It is called wireless communication or unbounded transmission media.
Direction
GUIDED MEDIA
It provides direction to signal for traveling.
UNGUIDED MEDIA
It does not provide any direction.
GUIDED MEDIA
Twisted pair cable, coaxial cable, and fiber optic cable.
UNGUIDED MEDIA
Radio wave, microwave, and infrared.
